ANZAC Kokoda Trek

Since 2003, Executive Excellence (EE) has been taking trekkers across the Kokoda Track to commemorate ANZAC Day. In April 2010 EE will be taking four trek groups across the Track as a mark of respect to Australian war time history. The trek groups will travel independently across that track and come together on ANZAC eve in preparation for our moving EE ANZAC Day service.
The Kokoda Track is one of the great treks of the world. It is also a location that holds a very important place in Australia’s history. From July 1942, the route over the Owen Stanley Range witnessed the battle hardened Japanese war machine, encounter young, unprepared, untrained, unproven and hopelessly outnumbered Australian soldiers. On your Executive Excellence Kokoda trek you will hear the stories of Kingsbury, Owen, Metson, McCallum, Potts, Honner, the Bissett brothers and many more, whilst undertaking a great physical challenge.
Inclusions:
- Ten week fully-supervised Adventure Fitness Preparation Program or the 12 week Remote Preparation Program
- Return economy airfare from Brisbane to Port Moresby with Air Niugini*
- Two nights accommodation in Port Moresby (4-star) on a twin share basis*
- Restaurant meals in Port Moresby
- Charter flight from Port Moresby to Kokoda
- All transfers and transport in Papua New Guinea
- Accommodation on the Track in a village hut, tent or bush camp
- All food during the trek (purchased and packed by EE in Australia)
- All personal camping and cooking equipment including sleeping bag, tent and sleeping mat
- Local PNG porters for group equipment
- Full dry cleaning of boots following the trek

EE conducts an extensive Kokoda trekking program throughout the Papua New Guinea dry season. Each month between March and October, a Kokoda trek is programmed. Treks leave on a Friday and return 10 days later on the second Sunday following our departure. This itinerary ensures busy professionals are only out of the office for the best part of one working week.
Treks travel from North to South (Kokoda Village to Ower’s Corner). This is done, as it is the same way the battle unfolded as Australian Soldiers fought a courageous and strategically brilliant withdrawal from Kokoda towards Ower’s Corner.
The Kokoda Track is one of the great treks of the world. It is also a location that holds a very important place in Australia’s history. EE’s proven training program will ensure you are physically well prepared for the trek.
While trekking, you will visit the villages of Kokoda, Alola, Efogi, Nauro and such historical sites as Brigade Hill and Isurava.

One of Papua New Guinea’s biggest annual events is the Mask Festival in Kokopo in the East Britain taking place in July each year. The festival attracts many cultural groups from all over the country displaying their masks through performances and this year there were 2 new groups participating in the 3 day festival, the Mandara and Walogai.
